Picture yourself designing an ornate fantasy book cover or a vintage pirate poster: you need letterforms that feel ancient and culturally layered without looking like a generic fantasy cliche. Sultan, created by Canada Type, draws from a fascinating historical moment. The typeface is a modern expansion of Martin Kausche's 1954 design Mosaik, which itself captured the collision between Arabic calligraphy and Celtic lettering that defined Andalusian culture from the ninth through early eleventh centuries. That cultural exchange left permanent marks on Western design, and you can still see its DNA in iconic logos like the New York Yankees insignia.

The original character set was limited to capitals, numerals, and a handful of swashes. This digital revival expands it significantly: you get both uppercase and lowercase letters, full punctuation, extensive accented characters for multiple languages, and over 15 alternate letterforms built into the font file. That flexibility means you can create visual variety within a single design without hunting for companion fonts.

Sultan shines for packaging on high-end Celtic or New Age product lines, custom wedding invitation suites with a historical twist, fantasy and paranormal romance book covers, and ornamental signage for themed venues or indie publishers. Its letterforms read boldly at large sizes while keeping enough character detail to stay interesting at body copy. You'll find Sultan ready to download on Creative Fabrica whenever you need it.
