Press Gothic Pro by Canada Type is a bold display sans that brings fresh life to a nearly-forgotten classic. Originally designed by Aldo Novarese as Metropol in 1967, this typeface was a strong contender against Impact, yet it faded from use while Impact thrived. Canada Type's 2008 revival resurrects a design that carries genuine muscle: clear letterforms with an urgent, authoritative presence that never tips into harshness.

The font suits projects where typography needs to command attention without sacrificing elegance. Think bold magazine mastheads, concert poster typography, editorial headlines that make you look twice, or packaging that demands shelf presence. The typeface responds well to the kind of confident sizing these applications need, delivering that rare combination of strength and refinement that makes layouts feel designed rather than assembled.

The Pro version harnesses OpenType features to maximize flexibility. You get small capitals and biform shapes (stylistic alternates for lowercase unicase treatment), plus comprehensive language support across Cyrillic, Greek, Turkish, Baltic, Central and Eastern European, Maltese, and Esperanto. All three fonts are bundled into one package, so you can scale your typographic voice up and down without juggling files. Head to Creative Fabrica to add this overlooked classic to your toolkit.
