Mezz® Std by Adobe is a condensed, oblique display typeface born from the world of jazz. Created to honor clarinetist Milton "Mezz" Mezzrow's legacy, this design captures his sharp tone and serpentine energy through its distinctive letterforms. Michael Harvey, an English letter cutter with a passion for both typography and jazz, crafted this face with clear chisel influence, giving each character angular edges and forward momentum that feel almost musical in their movement. The result is a typeface that commands presence without being loud or predictable.

The condensed width and oblique angle make Mezz particularly strong in vertical layouts, where its narrow profile doesn't waste space and its slant adds real visual drama. Book jackets for indie publishers, event posters for jazz clubs and music festivals, vintage packaging for craft spirits and specialty goods, and retro album cover designs all benefit from its character and presence. The typeface brings personality to any headline that needs to grab attention without feeling forced. Its angular forms work especially well when you need something bold that isn't trendy or generic, and they hold their own even at smaller display sizes.

If you're looking for a display face with genuine substance and a story behind it, add Mezz® Std to your Creative Fabrica library.
