This typeface feels bold and rule-breaking. Chutz, designed by Michael Rafailyk, is a slanted display face built for brands that don't play it safe.

The design pulls visual cues from Hebrew script into a typeface that works across Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic. Instead of the typical thin horizontal strokes found in most Latin typefaces, Chutz reverses the usual contrast with thicker horizontals and thinner verticals, creating a sense of cultural boldness. The letters shift between different slant angles, moving from a traditional Latin rightward lean to a Hebrew-influenced leftward tilt on letters like C, G, O, and Q. This unpredictable rhythm gives the typeface personality and energy. Softer curves and substantial weight throughout make it feel tactile and generous, evoking the roundness of dough.

Chutz shines on ethnic food and beverage packaging, boutique bakery branding, cultural restaurant menus, or DIY craft projects that need bold headline text with real character. The typeface includes multiple weights, so you can use it for social media graphics through to large packaging labels. Pair Chutz with a clean sans-serif for body text to let its personality take center stage without overwhelming the layout.
