Berliner strikes an immediate balance between approachable warmth and understated sophistication. Designed by Fenotype, this rounded serif display typeface comes in two styles and channels a distinctly retro-modern sensibility that somehow feels both nostalgic and fresh. The generous, slightly soft curves temper the serifs without sacrificing the weight and presence you need in a headline typeface, creating something that reads as genuinely friendly but still commanding.

This works beautifully for projects that need real personality without veering into frivolousness. Vintage-inspired artisan product labels, invitation suites for intimate weddings and smaller celebrations, craft brewery or coffee roaster packaging, and hand-lettered aesthetic book covers all benefit from what Berliner brings to the table. The full OpenType implementation reveals itself gradually: standard and discretionary ligatures, stylistic alternates for a more decorative approach, and titling alternates that shine at larger sizes. These details let you fine-tune how every word sits on the page.

Pair Berliner with a clean, narrow sans-serif for body copy to anchor longer passages and keep readability intact while letting this typeface carry the full visual weight where it matters.
