Salty Sombrero by Nicky Laatz is a playful display typeface built on angular letterforms and unmistakable handcrafted energy. Its bold geometry and genuinely cheeky character make it ideal for design projects that refuse to blend into the background or play it safe. The design draws its visual vocabulary heavily from Mexican cultural aesthetics, lending it natural warmth alongside its striking, unapologetic edges that demand space on the page.

This typeface shines on boutique product labels, hand-crafted packaging for artisanal skincare and specialty goods, eye-catching poster work where you need typography that commands immediate attention, and invitations with cultural themes or creative flair. It works equally well for DIY signage projects, independent shop branding, and creative work that celebrates unconventional style. Beneath the surface, the typeface includes a full collection of OpenType ligatures that add extra wit and personality to your compositions. Salty Sombrero comes in eight variants: Regular and Wonky styles, each paired with a 3D rendering, plus oblique versions throughout the range. This extensive toolkit gives you flexibility to layer, stack, or mix approaches within a single project without needing supplementary typefaces.
