The straightforward letterforms of Mikado carry an inviting warmth that reads as genuinely friendly rather than forced or over-designed. Designed by Hannes von Döhren of HVD Fonts, this display typeface manages something genuinely difficult to pull off: it feels casual and approachable in large display sizes, yet maintains solid legibility when set smaller or across longer passages. The combination of personality and utility makes it far more versatile than most casual display typefaces can manage.

This typeface works particularly well for food product packaging and labels, board game boxes and instruction documents, playful wedding invitations and event programs, and modern app interface design where warmth and personality matter more than corporate reserve. The complete family includes alternates and ligatures alongside arrows and fractions, with an extended character set that supports Central and Eastern European languages as fully as Western European typography. That technical depth and breadth means you can handle genuinely complex type work without needing to switch fonts across a single project or publication.

Mikado suits designers and brands who want their work to feel approachable and warm without sacrificing legibility or professionalism. You'll find it on Creative Fabrica.
