Hagrid embraces the weird side of type design with genuine enthusiasm. Designed by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini for Zetafonts, this display typeface celebrates the kind of experimental letterforms that make type lovers stop and stare: extreme contrast between strokes, calligraphic counter-spaces, intentional overshoots, and optical corrections that prioritize personality and presence over restraint. It reads as a contemporary grotesk that's deliberately off-kilter, built on solid typographic bones but unwilling to settle for safety.

The typeface ships as a six-weight system, ranging from thin and restrained to a chunky, expressive heavy that commands attention. A paired text family handles smaller sizes with adjusted spacing and refined details that maintain the design's energy without losing legibility at body size. The italics demonstrate this range clearly: display versions feature cursive terminals with genuine calligraphic flair, while the text italics follow a more classical slanted geometric approach for reading comfort.

Use this for editorial magazine spreads, independent book covers, music album artwork, or specialty product packaging where boldness and distinctiveness matter more than conventional refinement. The extended character support covers over 200 languages across Latin, Cyrillic, and Arabic alphabets, plus OpenType features for stylistic alternates and variations. This is the right pick for designers building projects that demand a display face with genuine personality and edge. Find Hagrid on Creative Fabrica.
