Gathes is a layered display script with vintage pop sensibility that catches the eye immediately. Designed by Thirtype, this typeface builds character through a system of five stackable styles that let you create genuine depth and dimension without needing to switch apps or combine files.

The foundation is a clean base layer you can use on its own, but the real fun happens when you stack the shine, extrude, extrude detail, and shadow effects together for maximum visual impact. Mix and match them however feels right for your project. A serif companion is included in the family, so you can pair it with the script when you need a counterpoint. The OpenType toolkit is solid too with ligatures, stylistic alternates, swash ornaments, and multilingual support that give you real control over how the font behaves across different projects.

You'll get the most mileage from this one on retro-inspired logos and branding work, vintage cosmetics and skincare packaging, event posters and concert flyers, and hand-drawn craft labels. Indie game titles, record covers, greeting cards, and vintage-style book jackets all benefit from that dimensional pop aesthetic too. If you're looking for that layered script effect without the manual work, grab Gathes from Creative Fabrica.
