This is an energetic, hand-drawn brush style that brings raw movement to any design. Daitengu, created by Hanoded, draws inspiration from Japanese mythology and the legendary "greater tengu" spirit creatures of the mountains. According to folklore, these beings were once feared as omens of war, but eventually became revered as protective guardians of mountains and forests. That same duality lives in this typeface: wild yet controlled, chaotic yet purposeful.

The letterforms capture the unpredictable quality of a soft brush loaded with China ink moving freely across paper. Rather than forcing predetermined shapes, Hanoded let the medium lead the way, resulting in organic strokes that feel genuinely spontaneous. You'll find this style works brilliantly for comic book lettering and graphic novel covers, alternative music poster designs, manga-style typography work, and graffiti-influenced branding for streetwear and lifestyle brands. The slightly imperfect edges and flowing quality give authenticity to edgy, unconventional projects that need personality. Diacritics and double letter ligatures are included, offering flexibility for international text and stylistic variations.

Pair Daitengu with a clean, neutral sans-serif for visual balance when body text is needed. Get it on Creative Fabrica and unlock genuine character for your next bold design.
