AMBOY by Parkinson Type Design is a square gothic display typeface rooted in early-to-mid century showcard lettering traditions, also known as "gaspipe" typography. The family consists of two weights: Amboy Black and Amboy Inline, carefully designed to work together or stand alone. Layer them strategically and the Inline cuts through the Black to create authentic color effects, echoing the two-color printing methods that defined vintage signage and storefront lettering throughout that era.

The forms draw direct inspiration from Oakland's architectural heritage, where original examples of this lettering style still mark storefront windows and building facades today.
