1 / 10About Raban Font
Raban grows out of the logic of material, inspired by geometric wooden typefaces such as Blok and Rex. Through use, these forms naturally wore down, developing characteristic ink traps, rounded edges, and imperfections. Its structure is not classical: the weight axis is combined with the width axis, so the bold naturally expands letterforms, while the light becomes more condensed. This apparent lack of system “purity” is a deliberate decision, enabling strong typographic compositions built on contrast. Raban consists of five styles and is designed for impactful headlines and expressive visual communication. These typefaces have an undeniable character, they are not polished, and that is precisely their strength. Their expression comes from process rather than decoration. The project was creatively directed by Mateusz Machalski, with support from Małgorzata Bartosik.
