1 / 10About Astigmatic Font
Astigmatic is an original reinterpretation of geometric grotesques from 1960–1989, a period when printing and typesetting technologies actively shaped letterforms. The tension between geometric precision and occasional “pulsation” of form emerged from the realities of working with Letraset, phototypesetting, and hand-traced lettering for design projects. It was in these processes that slight shifts, ink spreads, and imperfections creating truly unique characters. Astigmatic consciously embraces this visual language, treating the “error” as an expressive value rather than a flaw. The typeface has a strong, poster-driven character and works especially well in visual identities, titles, posters, and covers. One of its key inspirations is the work of Rosław Szaybo, particularly his designs for Krzysztof Komeda, rich in rhythm, tension, and visual ambiguity. Astigmatic does not pretend to be neutral; instead, it builds a narrative and insists on being noticed.
