Afronaut PRO by MACHALSKI blends angular geometric letterforms with softer, rounded curves, creating a display typeface that feels grounded in West African visual traditions while pushing toward a futuristic sensibility. The design synthesizes influences from vernacular scripts across Senegal, Mauritania, Guinea-Bissau, Gambia, and Western Sahara, drawing on both traditional Arabic letterforms and local geometric patterns MACHALSKI encountered during travels through the region. Rather than treating these typographic references as surface decoration, the designer lets them shape how each letterform actually functions (the tension between a geometric sans and Arabic script logic creates something that reads as genuinely cross-cultural, not borrowed).

Coming in seven weights, Afronaut PRO gives you real flexibility in how you express a concept or brand voice. Most letters include three alternate forms, so you can shift the personality of a single headline by swapping glyphs around, building variety without adding more typefaces to a project. Full support for Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek makes it viable for global projects from the outset. This is the typeface for independent record labels building a visual identity that honors cultural influence without exoticizing it, gallery posters and institutional graphics that need quiet confidence, luxury product packaging with real character, and music publication covers that want to feel hand-drawn yet sophisticated.
