You're looking at vintage cartoon charm with real attitude. Shinn Kickers JNL, created by Jeff Levine Fonts, is a collection of 26 character illustrations sourced directly from Cobb Shinn's legendary 1920s-30s stock cut library. Modern collectors affectionately call these the "little big head guys" because of their distinctly exaggerated proportions, and the pun in the font name captures the spirit perfectly: these cartoons kick you right in the shin and absolutely demand attention.

Shinn originally supplied these line-drawn characters to the letterpress printing trade, and they carry that era's warmth and craft sensibility directly into contemporary design work. They're ideal for vintage greeting card suites, retro carnival poster designs, DIY novelty stationery projects, or playful packaging labels where nostalgic cartoon personality and character matter most. The hand-drawn lines never feel slick or overly digitized, which gives any project using them instant credibility and a genuine sense of period authenticity that modern printed materials often struggle to capture.

Pair these character dingbats with a clean, straightforward sans-serif typeface for any accompanying text or callouts, which keeps the cartoons front and center without visual distraction. Find the complete set on Creative Fabrica and add that distinctive vintage warmth to your next design project.
