Sagres is a blackletter typeface drawn with heavy verticals and diamond-tipped joins from the Gothic tradition.
The capitals are tall and densely structured closer to medieval manuscripts than to any modern serif while the lowercase carries the broken curves and pointed terminals of the Fraktur lineage. Letters sit tight against one another, and a line of text reads as a dark, textured column rather than a row of separated words. The italic adds a slight forward slope; the bold pushes the strokes heavier still, suited to short, weighty headlines.
It belongs on a masthead, a record cover, a tattoo flash sheet anywhere the page needs to carry presence, history, and a measured touch of menace.
