This typeface brings an earnest, playful warmth that hits like stumbling through a nostalgic classroom display. Occidental Tourist JNL, designed by Jeff Levine, pulls its aesthetic from actual die-cut cardboard letters that teachers once used to decorate bulletin boards and felt displays. The clever name riffs on The Accidental Tourist, capturing that same unforced charm.

The chunky, approachable letterforms shine in scrapbooking layouts, children's book covers, DIY craft fair signage, and vintage-inspired product packaging. Each letter sits with substantial visual weight but no fussy ornamentation, staying true to its cardboard cutout origins while rendering cleanly at any size. You could layer these over textures, embed them in collage compositions, or give them space to breathe on their own. The aesthetic carries personality even in smaller formats like greeting cards or simple poster designs, making this font work harder than many display types. It feels handmade in a way that works for both serious and whimsical projects alike.

Combine it with a straightforward sans-serif for body text and supporting information, letting the two typefaces complement rather than clash with each other. Creative Fabrica has Occidental Tourist JNL ready to go whenever you need to inject that unfiltered, vintage classroom warmth into a design.
