The letterforms have that hand-drawn looseness from 1930s public works posters, where Art Deco geometry breaks the formal rules just enough to feel raw and unguarded. National Parks JNL, designed by Jeff Levine, captures that spirit directly. It's based on actual WPA lettering where someone rejected the rulebook and let the angles and proportions shift with real intention, creating something bold and deliberately skewed.

What makes this work is that refusal to conform. You get both regular and oblique versions, which means actual flexibility for hierarchy and mood. The construction feels anchored in Depression-era craft tradition but lands completely fresh on contemporary screens and printed work. This font belongs in projects that need genuine 1930s character without the fussy polish or the overworked nostalgia angle. Think speakeasy menus, heritage travel posters, art deco labels for artisanal goods, or DIY vintage concert announcements that channel that Americana graphic sensibility.

It's the right pick for designers reaching for the real thing, not a sanitized substitute. National Parks JNL is available on Creative Fabrica whenever you're ready to anchor a project with that unfussy vintage confidence.
