Merrivaux by Greater Albion Typefounders is a modern blackletter revival that captures the spirit of medieval typography while remaining genuinely readable in everyday practice. The designers looked back at 19th and 20th century Gothic script revivals and built something that bridges the gap between historical authenticity and practical contemporary use. You get that unmistakable old-world character without sacrificing legibility, which makes it ideal for professional design work rather than just novelty applications.

The typeface comes in two complementary versions with distinct personalities and purposes. The incised form features a visible midline running clearly through all the letterforms, giving that distinctive hand-carved, deliberately wrought quality that signals craft and tradition. A solid variant offers identical metrics, letting you switch between them without disrupting your carefully built layouts. Both versions pack the proper OpenType features: ligatures, fractions, old style numerals, and alternate terminal forms so you can finely calibrate the medieval mood to precisely match your project's specific needs and aesthetic. You'll find them brilliant for vintage book cover designs, heritage brewery and winery labels, medieval-inspired wedding invitation suites, and historic commemorative signage and plaque work.
