MAYBROOK JNL by Jeff Levine Fonts is a bold display serif with a distinctive personality: the slab serifs feature rounded corners, channeling the hand-drawn aesthetic of early twentieth-century show card lettering. The design traces its roots to a typeface example featured in Harry B. Wright's 1950 book "Lettering," a foundational resource for lettering artists and typographic enthusiasts alike. Bringing that historical reference into a modern digital format, the typeface preserves the warmth and character of the original while remaining relevant for contemporary design work without feeling dated or quaint.

The rounded serifs give this typeface a friendlier, more approachable feel than standard slab designs, making it work beautifully for projects that demand visual impact without coldness or industrial edge. You'll find it particularly effective for vintage poster layouts, retro storefront signage, heritage and nostalgia-driven brand packaging, theatrical event posters, and decorative book covers where hand-crafted quality genuinely resonates with audiences. Headlines sing with the typeface's confident stroke weight and generous letterforms. Both the regular and oblique versions are included, providing flexibility for mixed straight and angled text within layouts without requiring additional weights.
