These ornamental pointing hands feel like they've stepped out of a print shop from the 1920s, capturing that nostalgic directional flourish that once guided readers' eyes across printed pages. Handy Dandies JNL, a third collection from Jeff Levine Fonts, pairs these redrawn "Printer's Fists" with a few card holder ornaments, all sourced from vintage typographic archives. The distinction here is authenticity: each embellishment has been faithfully restored rather than simply mimicked, preserving the character and imperfection that make period lettering compelling.

Where this collection shines is in work that leans on period references or a print shop aesthetic. Vintage book cover designs benefit from the directional gesture these hands provide, while custom packaging labels gain authority and charm when anchored by these typographic flourishes. They're equally at home in scrapbooking layouts, printed invitations with a retro bent, and one-off stationery projects where a designer wants to signal craft and intention. Even contemporary work gains narrative texture when these anachronistic markers punctuate the layout.

The font suits designers and small publishers who value historical reference and aren't afraid to mix ornament with contemporary typography. You'll find Handy Dandies JNL on Creative Fabrica, where you can download it and explore how vintage ornament language speaks in your own work.
