You're designing a piece that genuinely needs to feel hand-lettered, and ECKHARDT BRUSHLETTERJNL by Jeff Levine Fonts gives you exactly that authentic quality. Levine drew inspiration from a 1941 edition of the Speedball Lettering Pen instruction book, meticulously translating those historic techniques and letterforms into digital brush styles that work beautifully for contemporary design work. This isn't a polished recreation either, it keeps the character and quirks that make hand-lettering feel alive.

The typeface is named in honor of Albert Eckhardt Jr., a talented Miami sign painter who ran Allied Signs from 1959 until his passing. That connection to actual craft runs deeply through the entire design, which is part of Levine's Eckhardt Series, a collection built on real hand-lettering traditions rather than stylized interpretation. You'll find this font particularly strong for retro restaurant menus, custom lettering on vintage-inspired packaging, hand-drawn wedding invitation suites, vintage poster design, and DIY craft signage where authenticity makes all the difference. The brushy quality feels conversational and warm, the way real sign painter work does.

Letterforms read cleanly even at large display sizes, with a clarity that comes directly from how the original Speedball techniques were designed. Get it on Creative Fabrica and bring that authentic sign painter's vision into your designs.
