Dharma Gothic C by Dharma Type is a condensed sans serif that channels the character of 19th-century wood type. The design captures that vintage letterpress feeling with weathered edges and a nostalgic warmth that feels handcrafted, even though every glyph is precisely engineered for modern use.

This is the kind of typeface that works brilliantly for vintage-inspired apparel hang tags, retro book jackets, and craft beer label design. Boutique coffee roasters and specialty food packaging often reach for faces like this, as do designers building mood boards around antique aesthetics. The condensed width packs a lot of personality into tight spaces, which makes it invaluable when you need bold, punchy headlines or shop signage that commands attention without sprawling across your composition.

The family ships with 42 styles, giving you room to dial in exactly the weight and width you need. There are alternate glyphs for the letters g, r, and y (accessed through OpenType features), and tabular figures keep numbers aligned if you're working on data-heavy layouts. Dharma Type also released Gothic Extras free, a companion set loaded with borders, ornaments, and frames sourced from actual 1800s Hamilton type catalogs. If you want to explore further, the Dharma series also includes Dharma Slab and Dharma Gothic P, each with its own character.
