What Is Display Font?
A display font is designed to be used at large sizes — headlines, posters, logos, and titles — rather than for body text. Display faces prioritise personality and impact over readability in long passages, so they often have dramatic contrast, decorative details, or exaggerated proportions.
The line between display and text faces is about scale and intent. A face packed with flourishes that delights at 72pt would exhaust a reader at 11pt.
Display type is where typographic experimentation lives: ultra-bold weights, condensed widths, ornamental serifs, and novelty shapes all belong to the display category.
