About TeX Gyre Cursor Font
There is something calm and procedural about a well-built monospace. TeX Gyre Cursor is the fixed-width family from Bogusław Jackowski and Janusz M. Nowacki at the GUST e-foundry, a metric-compatible Courier alternative drawn from the Nimbus Mono lineage. Regular carries most of the load, and the family arrives as four files, so extra weights and styles are on hand instead of a single lonely cut. Every glyph sits on the same advance width, which is the entire point: columns line up, code diffs stay readable, and nothing shifts sideways when a digit changes.
Because the metrics match Courier, it slots into older documents without reflowing a line. The GUST heritage shows too, since this is a face shaped with LaTeX users in mind. It makes a sensible choice for LaTeX dissertation typesetting, code listings inside developer documentation, API reference tables, and terminal screenshots that have to stay legible at small sizes. Language coverage runs past 322 Latin-based languages, which matters the moment a bibliography pulls in Polish, Vietnamese, Turkish and Czech on one page.
Nothing here shouts, and that restraint is useful when the type has to disappear behind the content. Long technical and academic documents are where it earns its keep, anywhere code and prose share a page.
