Soft Mouth by Alit Design is a blackletter typeface that channels Victorian formality without feeling overwrought. It balances ornate detail with genuine legibility, making it suitable for contexts where you need historical character but your text still needs to function on the page.

The family includes four distinct cuts that work independently or together. The Regular version maintains clean readability for body text, while the Hole cut creates striking visual effects through hollowed letterforms. Ornament and Serif variants unlock decorative layering possibilities, letting you build depth and texture in a single design. Overall, the typeface spans 666 glyphs total, covering most European languages plus extensive ornamental characters, ligatures, and alternates.

Bonus decorative frames and floral ornaments round out the package. This breadth makes the typeface particularly strong for wedding invitation suites, luxury product packaging, vintage brand identity systems, and ornate decorative typography. The real power comes from combining the different cuts together: layer the Regular with Ornament for embellished headers, or stack them for subtle color effects that add dimension without cluttering the page.
