Built on optical principles that define op art, SB Genie from SelfBuild Type Foundry brings geometric letterforms with genuine visual force. The typeface builds its impact through high-contrast striping, where each character combines precise circular curves with a deliberate horizontal rhythm. Rooted in the optical experiments of the 1970s, it applies the visual principles of artists like Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely, turning their research into functional type. These aren't letters that whisper; they're designed to command attention at large scales.

This is fundamentally a typeface for bold moments. Think album covers that need to grab listeners in a split second, or poster campaigns for art galleries and experimental music venues where visual intensity matters. It's equally at home on high-end product packaging for luxury candles or niche beauty brands, and works beautifully for concert posters and event announcements. The strong optical effects thrive when rendered large and in high-contrast combinations, whether solid black on white or inverted. Single-weight construction keeps things clean and focused.

SB Genie suits designers building work that celebrates visual risk over subtlety. It's the typeface for brands comfortable with bold statements and audiences who appreciate graphic experimentation. You'll find it on Creative Fabrica if you want to explore what it brings to your next attention-grabbing project.
