OLIFANT by Hipopotam Studio grows out of a practical design challenge, one that shaped its character from the start. The typeface began as a monospace solution for a project that required letters to stack vertically, forming neat columns above one another. As the work evolved, so did the typeface itself, shifting toward proportional spacing while keeping those digits firmly locked at fixed width.

This hybrid approach makes OLIFANT surprisingly versatile for display work. Fashion brand identities, event posters, and music packaging benefit from its structured yet flexible geometry. Food label designs, boutique café menus, and DIY vinyl sticker projects all find a natural home in its letterforms. Because the digits remain fixed-width while letters breathe proportionally, it's equally at home in price lists, product codes, or more experimental typographic layouts.

OLIFANT suits designers working on contemporary projects that demand both visual personality and technical precision. That might be a freelance brand refresh, a print marketing campaign, or packaging for a specialty product line. Each context shows a different side of what the typeface can do. Get it on Creative Fabrica and experiment with how its balanced proportions work for your next display project.
