Merli by Pukka De is a slab-serif that balances genuine warmth with sharp contemporary sensibility, landing somewhere between approachable and distinctly personal in character. The letterforms carry enough visual presence to command attention without becoming overdesigned, delivering headlines and display text a confident voice while remaining readable across print and digital applications. This blend of distinctive personality and measured restraint makes it far more adaptable than most display typefaces with this much real character and presence.

The font naturally suits food packaging and restaurant menus, where friendly proportions convey both quality and authentic warmth in equal measure. Vintage-inspired book covers lean into its mid-century undertones, while artisanal product labels gain immediate personality without the overwrought feeling of overly elaborate decorative fonts. Craft signs, local business branding, and greeting card lettering all benefit from slab serifs that anchor designs effectively without overwhelming the underlying letterforms. Where a standard typeface would fade to background noise, Merli holds its ground with genuine visual presence. This is workhorse typography that refuses to sacrifice personality for practicality.
