Imagine designing a wine label or craft beer branding project where you need that raw, hand-painted boldness without having to hand-letter the entire composition. Kallio Brush, created by Fenotype, gives you exactly that confident, painted quality. The name is Finnish, meaning rock or cliff, and the typeface carries that solid, commanding presence rooted in American sign painting traditions.

This script works beautifully for wedding invitation suites, artisanal product packaging, vintage concert posters, and hand-lettered cafe menus. The thick, brushy letterforms maintain real authority across scales: bold at display sizes, legible in tighter layouts. You can adjust the personality of each word to match whatever mood your design calls for, thanks to the Swash Alternates available for every standard character and the Contextual Alternates that smooth the transitions between letters.

Where Kallio Brush really excels is in its flexibility. That combination of swash variations and thoughtful alternates means you're not locked into a single predetermined look; each project can take on its own character while keeping the sign-painter boldness intact. Retail packaging, brand systems, and posters all benefit from the control this typeface provides. Get Kallio Brush on Creative Fabrica.
