Fulgora by Sudtipos is a blackletter that lives at the intersection of calligraphy and typeface design, built from hand-drawn characters rather than digital-first construction. The design draws inspiration from medieval Bâtarde and Civilité scripts, Southern Indian writing systems (Kannada and Sinhala), Celtic uncials, and vernacular Mexican letterforms that speak to different artistic traditions. Each character originated as an actual pen mark, traced directly without cleanup work, then converted to outlines and carefully spaced to maintain that raw, authentic handwritten quality throughout the family.

The result is a typeface that feels like real calligraphy, but with the precision needed for actual typesetting work. Fulgora works beautifully for projects that call for historical presence: illuminated manuscript-inspired layouts, gothic novel covers, wedding invitation suites with vintage style, and custom branding that wants a distinctly handcrafted feel. The imperfect, natural rhythm of the letterforms adds genuine character without becoming a display-only liability.

Two weights ship with the font, Blanca for delicate passages and Negra for high-contrast display work, both maintaining consistent proportions across the family. If you want a blackletter that reads as genuinely handmade, grab Fulgora on Creative Fabrica.
