This font carries the distinct feeling of stepping into a centuries-old library, where careful typography sits waiting on the shelves, patient and timeless. Courant, created by Hanoded, is a blackletter typeface rooted directly in authentic 17th century Dutch newspaper typography. The designer preserved the character and visible irregularities of that era's letterforms, giving your work genuine historical texture without feeling like a modern approximation that's trying too hard.

What makes Courant genuinely useful today is how Hanoded thoughtfully added the glyphs we actually need in contemporary design. The @, $, €, and asterisks simply weren't part of 1600s printing, so the designer created them to match the historical character while solving modern requirements. You can confidently deploy this typeface for formal wedding invitation suites, historical fiction book covers, vintage newspaper mastheads, or scholarly academic poster designs. The typeface pairs authentic letterforms with modern functionality, meaning you get both period accuracy and real-world usability without compromise or awkward workarounds.

Pair Courant with a clean, restrained sans-serif for body text, letting the blackletter personality handle the dramatic display work. Find it on Creative Fabrica and bring both historical credibility and modern, practical functionality to your next display project.
