Picture designing the branding for a vintage Korean teahouse or creating packaging for artisanal Korean skincare products with authentic retro vibes. Cheonggye Kr, developed by heummdesign, is a slab serif typeface that draws directly from 1970s Korean design sensibilities. The typeface employs deliberate contrast in stroke weight, with bold horizontals balanced against lighter verticals, and features obtuse right-angled serifs that create genuine retro character without feeling like a novelty typeface.

This font works beautifully for Korean restaurant menus and storefront signage, vintage-inspired product packaging, bilingual branding projects, and display-heavy designs that need visual presence. Bold strokes maintain legibility even at large display sizes, making it ideal for posters and architectural signage. Create custom labels for artisanal Korean confections, design a retro-themed fashion lookbook, build signage for a vintage bookstore, or develop Korean restaurant identities: Cheonggye Kr delivers the nostalgic Korean aesthetic with genuine typographic weight behind it.

Comprehensive Korean Hangul character support plus extensive Latin letters give you flexibility for truly bilingual work. The slab serif construction provides the warmth and confidence that retro branding demands, while the variable stroke weights ensure readability across sizes. Grab Cheonggye Kr on Creative Fabrica to add authentic vintage Korean energy to your next design project.
