USED CARS JNL by Jeff Levine Fonts is a decorative typeface drawn from vintage hand-painted sign alphabets that once dominated American commercial landscapes. The design originates from original letterforms created by Alf R. Becker for Signs of the Times magazine during the heyday of hand-lettered signage, spanning from the 1930s through the 1950s. These historically significant alphabets were carefully preserved through archival materials provided by Tod Swormstedt, curator of the American Sign Museum in Cincinnati, who recognized their design legacy and potential for contemporary creative work.

This typeface carries the authentic character and quirky charm of mid-century commercial signage, complete with the hand-lettered warmth that defined an entire era of American design. For retro car show posters, vintage diner menus, and classic burger stand signage, it delivers period-accurate aesthetics that feel genuinely convincing. It works equally well for 1950s-inspired product packaging, Americana-themed event invitations, and antique sign restoration projects that need historically authentic letterforms. The slightly imperfect, hand-crafted quality of the typeface gives projects immediate character without requiring manual distressing or artificial weathering effects. There's real substance in the letterforms: they reference actual sign-painting practices from the era, making this font feel like you've pulled an actual vintage alphabet from a sign painter's reference book.
