Small Heath hits that sweet spot where bold playfulness meets genuine character and real presence on the page. Designed by putracetol, this slab serif brings an upbeat, approachable energy to any project that needs to catch attention without feeling stiff or corporate.

The font really shines on vintage-inspired brand identities, craft brewery tap labels, indie podcast episode artwork, and that kind of retro-feeling storefront signage you spot in quirky neighborhoods or antique districts. When you need a headline that carries both weight and personality, this delivers with style. It's built with full PUA encoding, which means all the ligatures and alternate characters are ready to use without any technical workaround or fussing. That access to extended glyphs opens up more creative flexibility than you might expect from a display serif, giving you room to experiment.

The slab structure gives it serious presence on headlines, logotypes, and other display uses where letting your type carry the visual load actually makes sense. Pair Small Heath with a crisp geometric sans-serif for any body copy you need, and you've got a strong system that works from concert posters and zine covers all the way through to bakery menus and vintage-style product packaging.
