You're designing a vintage whiskey label, and you need type that looks genuinely handmade, not computer-generated. Prota Gonice by invasistudio is a slab serif that captures the authentic letterpress quality you're searching for. The hand-drawn distressed aesthetic gives it real character and presence, with irregular letter shapes that read as intentional and carefully considered rather than hastily sketched or lazy.

This font shines in specific applications where authenticity and visual personality matter most. Vintage cosmetics packaging benefits from its roughness and distressed character, as do wedding invitation suites with a nostalgic edge, DIY vinyl decals for craft businesses, and stamp-style concert posters with real texture. The aesthetic also works beautifully for small-batch food labels, independent bookstore signage, hand-printed greeting cards, and anything targeting that retro-meets-contemporary look. Its boldness commands attention at large sizes while remaining legible at body text scale. Print it small on product tags or hang labels, and the letterpress texture still reads clearly, giving humble materials real presence and intentionality.

The hand-drawn character holds its personality beautifully across every scale and application, working equally well as a bold headline or fitting snugly within a tight label space. Grab Prota Gonice on Creative Fabrica to start using this roughed-up, genuine serif in your next project.
