Imagine designing a speakeasy menu or a vintage bourbon label, hunting for a serif typeface with genuine weight and character that feels grounded rather than fussy. Moreko, designed by Maulana Creative, is a slab serif that hits exactly this mark: substantial letterforms anchored by confident horizontal serifs that evoke mid-20th century print culture without feeling like a direct pastiche.

This font excels on craft brewery packaging, vintage book cover redesigns, and retro event posters where type needs to convey solidity and trustworthiness. Classic diner menus also showcase Moreko beautifully, with its rhythmic, grounded visual presence working perfectly at any scale. The typeface sits comfortably at large display sizes, where proportions maintain their weight and readability stays crisp even with tighter kerning choices. Unlike lighter serifs that demand careful spacing and constant adjustment, Moreko's sturdy letterforms read with clarity regardless of tracking decisions. What makes it genuinely practical is the balance between boldness and legibility, which means it works equally well as a poster headline or as an accent element in smaller text applications without losing its character.
