You're hand-lettering a vintage theater marquee, and you need something that genuinely looks like it was painted on by a real craftsperson with years of experience. Eckhardt Poster Brush JNL by Jeff Levine Fonts captures exactly that mid-century sign painter's energy, with brushy, organic letterforms that feel alive and loose without ever sliding into sloppiness or parody.

This font draws from the hand-lettering techniques employed by old-school show card writers and sign painters, those artists who shaped retail windows and entertainment venues for decades. Jeff Levine created it specifically in honor of Albert Eckhardt Jr., a legendary sign writer whose influence runs through every stroke and letter. You'll find it works beautifully for vintage concert posters, speakeasy menus, craft fair signage, hand-lettered product branding, theater lobby displays, and even DIY wooden signs that need genuine character and warmth rather than something sterile or predictable.

Brushed edges and gestural strokes give everything an unmistakable handmade quality that digital fonts rarely manage to convey. An italic version (Eckhardt Poster Italic JNL) offers an angled treatment on the letterforms, handy when you need motion, emphasis, or a dynamic lean to the overall composition. Pull it from Creative Fabrica and bring that authentic sign painter's craftsmanship to your next project.
