These geometric modules pull directly from Andean archaeological imagery, translating centuries-old motifs into a functional pattern system built for combination. Tinkuy Patterns, created by Sudtipos and digitized by Ale Paul, takes its name from a Quechua concept: the meeting of opposing forces that create balance, a philosophy embedded directly in how these patterns interconnect and layer. Rather than static ornaments, the modules combine freely, generating entirely new visual possibilities from simple geometric logic.

Six files contain more than 2,650 individual modules that connect across the entire character set. Each subset emphasizes a particular shape, but you can combine across different sets to build countless variations using standard keyboard access. The visual language stays grounded in its Andean source while remaining abstract enough to work across many different design contexts, from historically informed cultural projects to contemporary geometric applications and mixed-media work.

This system serves textile and wallpaper designers particularly well, editorial professionals creating decorative borders and fills, brand designers building indigenous-inspired visual identity systems, and illustrators working with layered geometric compositions. The modular approach also works well for anyone building extensive pattern libraries or designing complex, multi-layered visual work.
