Picture a letterpress wedding invitation with ornamental borders framing the text, or a vintage poster decorated with delicate flourishes and classical frames. That's the world of Derriey Vignettes, a dingbats font from Intellecta Design based on Charles Derriey's legendary ornament collection. Derriey was a 19th-century Parisian typefounder and punchcutter whose specimen books became reference points for printers seeking authentic, beautifully-crafted decorative elements.

Intellecta's digitization brings this heritage into modern practice. The font gives you a wide range of fleurons, borders, and ornamental marks well-suited for wedding invitation suites, luxury packaging designs, vintage-style album covers, and handmade craft labels. Each glyph carries the precision of the original punchcut work, translated faithfully into digital form. For designers pursuing period-correct aesthetics or classic invitations, these ornaments add the kind of refined detail that reads like genuine nineteenth-century craftsmanship.

The complete character set includes multiple weights and ornamental variations, letting you layer and compose exactly the look you need. It works beautifully for print projects that benefit from a touch of classical elegance and historical authenticity.
