Rifleman by Good Gravy Type is a slab-serif with hand-drawn roots and a distinctly human quality. The design process began with careful pencil work, which the designer then traced loosely with a paintbrush to capture something organic and genuinely imperfect. Rather than refining away that character, Rifleman embraces it by stripping back to only the essentials. Every single stroke earns its place; anything that didn't add real meaning got removed. The result feels intentional without being overworked, calm without being cold or sterile.

You'll find this typeface particularly strong for vintage product packaging and labels where a handmade feel builds consumer trust, editorial headlines and spreads that need real personality, custom boutique branding systems, and hand-painted style signage. The slab-serif weight grounds it well for legibility and readability, while those loose, organic proportions prevent anything from feeling stiff or corporate. Wide letterforms give words plenty of air and presence, which means the type pulls focus on the page without demanding it through sheer size alone. That balance between structure and spontaneity makes Rifleman useful at almost any scale and any design context.
