You're designing a whiskey label that needs to grab customers' attention from across a crowded shelf, or working on a vintage saloon sign that should feel authentically old-school without looking stale or dated. Gunslinger, designed by VonTypeCo, is a bold slab serif built for exactly this kind of project. Its reverse-contrast style (that distinctive inverted stress you see in nineteenth-century novelty typefaces) gives it a rugged, eye-catching quality that feels both deeply nostalgic and modern.

This typeface excels on heritage spirit packaging and craft distillery labels, country music album artwork, vintage western movie titles, and rustic hospitality branding. You'll find it working equally well for wanted posters, denim brand tags, and rough lodge signage. The sturdy serifs and confident weight make it read clearly whether scaled large for signs or smaller for detailed label work, and it strikes an uncommonly good balance between period authenticity and modern sensibility. VonTypeCo offers both Regular and Spur styles, giving you the choice between straightforward impact and more stylized character.

Reach for Regular when you need something solid and grounded, and pick Spur when headlines demand that reverse-contrast punch. It's available on Creative Fabrica for designers ready to bring some frontier spirit to their work.
